Flea47, Shuta Shinoda, Hackney Road Studios, London

“We had the original Telefunken U47 at the Hackney Road Studios (originally from Abbey Road Studios, used a lot during The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s sessions). It was a brilliant microphone as you know. I really missed the U47, then I discovered Flea47.
I found out that Flea47 has a milder top end compared to the Telefunken U47 we had. Hence, it’s more versatile, I use Flea47 more frequently, and I am really happy with the result.

I recently used Flea47 on:
– Anna Meredith’s “Varmints” album
– Hot Chip forthcoming single “Disco to Disco”
– Digitalism’s forthcoming record where Iggor Cavalera from Soul Wax, Sepeutura, played the drums.”
