“In case you are interested to know what one of your mics has been up to, I used my Flea49 on Samara Joy’s vocals on the 2023 Grammy nominated “Linger Awhile” in the Best Vocal Jazz Album category.
I have also used it as the vocal mic on a number of Kurt Elling’s records, one of which, “Secrets are the Best Stories”, won in the Best Vocal Jazz Album category in the 2020 Grammy Awards.
You can also hear it on Kurt’s “The Questions” and Jazzmeia Horn’s “Social Call”, both Grammy nominated in the same category.
It is my first choice for vocals, but it always seems to find it’s place in my sessions without vocalists, often for upright bass, acoustic guitar, or at the very least as a room mic.

As someone who grew up in the oldest NYC studios with huge vintage mic collections, your 49 is the only new reproduction of a vintage classic that has not only held up against the very best vintage examples that I have heard, but has actually been chosen as the vocal mic in almost all of the shootouts I have made against the originals.
